1. Growth

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it…”

Similar to how babies rely on their mother’s milk to grow, you also require the nourishment of God’s Word to mature and flourish spiritually. As believers of God, your primary need is spiritual nourishment. Just like pure milk, God’s Word serves as your spiritual food that enables us to thrive.

By being nourished, you grow as the life of God increases within you. Jesus, as a man on earth, lived his life this way, serving as an excellent model for you to follow. Your hunger can only be satisfied when you live not only on physical food, but also on God’s Word. This is how you can find satisfaction and strength to continue living the Christian life.

2. Guidance

Isaiah 30:20 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Did you know that the Bible acts as a treasure trove of wisdom if you are seeking guidance in life. It’s a powerhouse of insights and knowledge that can help you navigate life’s twists and turns, make better choices, and grow towards spiritual and emotional maturity. The Bible also helps us to grow in resilience and in our actions.

3. To hear God’s voice

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Effective communication is important in any relationship, and God is the conductor of life’s symphony. The Bible acts as a portal for you to hear God’s voice with clarity and wisdom, leading to discernment and righteous actions that glorify Christ.

4. Because its eternal

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”

The promises in the Bible stay with you forever as you read the Bible each day. Unlike worldly things that eventually fade, the teachings rooted in Christ endure. By reading the Bible, you discover what is eternal and can apply these principles to your daily lives on earth so that you can live with an eternal perspective in the here and now.

5. It keeps you from sin

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Having a strong foundation in God’s Word is essential for living a Christian life, shaping you into the image of Christ, renewing your minds, and keeping you from sin. Reading, studying, and memorizing the Bible helps you gain an understanding of God, Jesus’ teachings, and how to live a faithful life and to stay on the right track.

7 Omukiintu Omusamaria okwe ya komuthima okuteka omeya. Jesus okwa ti kuye: “Pe ndje wo, ndi nwe mo.” Omukiintu Omusamaria okwe ya komuthima okuteka omeya, Jesus nokwa ti kuye… 8 Aalongwa ye oya adhika ya ya koshilando, ya ka landa iikulya.

9 Omukiintu Omusamaria okwa yamukula: “Ngoye Omujuda, ihe ngame omukiintu Omusamaria. Oto vulu tuu okwiindila ndje, ndi ku pe, u nwe?” Oshoka Aajuda nAasamaria ihaa endathana.

10 Jesus okwa yamukula a ti: “Ando owa li wa tseya shoka Kalunga ha gandja naanguka olye te ku indile omeya, ando ngoye owe mu indile, e ku pe omeya omanamwenyo.”

11 Omukiintu okwa ti kuye: “Omuwa, ngoye ku na nando oshitekitho nomuthima omule. Omeya omanamwenyo oto ga adha peni? 12 Ngoye omunene nani u vule tatekulu Jakob, ngoka e tu pa omuthima nguno nokwa li ha nu mo ye mwene pamwe noyana niimuna ye?”

15 Omukiintu okwa ti kuye: “Omuwa, pe ndje wo omeya ngoka, opo ndaa se we enota, ngame kaandi ye we nkuka komuthima okuteka.”

16 Jesus okwe mu lombwele: “Inda, u ki ithane omulumentu gwoye, ngoye u ye naye nkuka.”

17 Omukiintu okwe mu yamukula a ti: “Kandi na omulumentu.”

Jesus okwa ti kuye: “Owa popi dhoshili kutya ku na omulumentu. 18 Oshoka ngoye owa li u na aalumentu yatano, naangoka u na ngashingeyi, ke shi omulumentu gwoye. Moshinima shoka owa popi dhoshili.”

19 Omukiintu okwa ti kuye: “Omuwa, ondi ku wete kutya ngoye omuhunganeki. 20 Ootatekulu Aasamaria oya li haa galikana Kalunga kondundu ndjika, ihe ne Aajuda ohamu ti kutya Jerusalem olyo ehala moka tu na okugalikanena.”

21 Jesus okwa ti kuye: “Nekulu, itaala ndje. Ethimbo otali ya, uuna ndoka itaamu ka galikana Tate kondundu ndjika nenge muJerusalem. 22 Ne Aasamaria omu shi tuu ngoka hamu mu galikana? 25 Omukiintu okwa ti kuye: “Ondi shi shi kutya Kristus, nokutya Omugwayekwa ote ke ya. Nge te ya, ote ke tu lombwela iinima ayihe.”

26 Jesus okwa ti kuye: “Ongame naanaa nguka te popi nangoye.”

27 Pethimbo olyo tuu ndyoka aalongwa ye oye ya. Oya kumwa, sho ya mono Jesus ta popi nomukiintu ngoka. Ihe kapwa li nando ogumwe e mu pula: “Owa hala shike?” nenge: “Omolwashike to popi naye?”

28 Omukiintu okwa thigi po ihe oshuma she nokwa yi koshilando. Okwa lombwele aantu: 29 “Ileni, mu tale omulumentu ngoka a lombwele ndje ayihe nde yi ninga. Pamwe oye Kristus?” 30 Oyo oya zi mo moshilando noye ya kuJesus.

31 Aalongwa oya kala taa lombwele Jesus taa ti: “Muhongi, lya.”

32 Ihe Ye okwa yamukula a ti: “Ngame ondi na iikulya mbyoka kaamu yi shi.”

33 Aalongwa ye oya pulathana ihe: “Pamwe ope na ngoka e mu etele iikulya?”

34 Jesus okwa ti kuyo: “Iikulya yandje oyo okulonga ehalo lyaanguka a tumu ndje nokutsakanitha oshilonga shoka e shi pe ndje.

35 “Ne ohamu ti: ‘Oku na natango oomwedhi ne, eteyo li thike.’ Ngame otandi mu lombwele: Yelutheni omeho geni, mu tale kutya omapya oga thika okuteywa. 36 Ngashingeyi nokuli omuteyi ota taamba ondjambi ye niilya ote yi pungulile momwenyo gwaaluhe, opo omukuni a nyanyukwe pamwe nomuteyi. 37 Oshoka moshinima shika ohapu oya tsa kutya: ‘Omukuni okwi ili nomuteyi okwi ili.’ 38 Ngame onde mu tumu okuteya mpoka inaamu longa po. Yalwe oyo ya longo, ne nomwe ya okulya iiyimati yiilonga yawo.”

39 Oyendji yomAasamaria yomoshilando shoka oyi itaale Jesus omolwoohapu dhomukiintu, ngoka a ti: “Oye okwa lombwele ndje iinima ayihe mbyoka nde yi ninga.” 40 Aasamaria sho ye ya kuye, oye mu indile, a menekele puyo. Ye okwa menekele puyo omasiku gaali.

41 Aantu oyendji ye vule mboka yotango oyi itaale Jesus omolwoohapu dhe mwene. 42 Yo noya lombwele omukiintu: “Tse otwi itaala, hamolwoohapu dhoye, ihe omolwashoka twe mu uvu tse yene notu shi shi, oye lela omuhupithi guuyuni.”

Jesus ta aludha omuna gwelenga

1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. 5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

27 ¶ And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

31 ¶ In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. 35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

39 ¶ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. 40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his own word; 42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

43 ¶ Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee. 44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country. 45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. 46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him , saying, Thy son liveth. 52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. 54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
