1. Growth

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it…”

Similar to how babies rely on their mother’s milk to grow, you also require the nourishment of God’s Word to mature and flourish spiritually. As believers of God, your primary need is spiritual nourishment. Just like pure milk, God’s Word serves as your spiritual food that enables us to thrive.

By being nourished, you grow as the life of God increases within you. Jesus, as a man on earth, lived his life this way, serving as an excellent model for you to follow. Your hunger can only be satisfied when you live not only on physical food, but also on God’s Word. This is how you can find satisfaction and strength to continue living the Christian life.

2. Guidance

Isaiah 30:20 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Did you know that the Bible acts as a treasure trove of wisdom if you are seeking guidance in life. It’s a powerhouse of insights and knowledge that can help you navigate life’s twists and turns, make better choices, and grow towards spiritual and emotional maturity. The Bible also helps us to grow in resilience and in our actions.

3. To hear God’s voice

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Effective communication is important in any relationship, and God is the conductor of life’s symphony. The Bible acts as a portal for you to hear God’s voice with clarity and wisdom, leading to discernment and righteous actions that glorify Christ.

4. Because its eternal

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”

The promises in the Bible stay with you forever as you read the Bible each day. Unlike worldly things that eventually fade, the teachings rooted in Christ endure. By reading the Bible, you discover what is eternal and can apply these principles to your daily lives on earth so that you can live with an eternal perspective in the here and now.

5. It keeps you from sin

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Having a strong foundation in God’s Word is essential for living a Christian life, shaping you into the image of Christ, renewing your minds, and keeping you from sin. Reading, studying, and memorizing the Bible helps you gain an understanding of God, Jesus’ teachings, and how to live a faithful life and to stay on the right track.

Ehanagulo lyaAssur shuuntsa

5 Yaye Assur, ongoye ongola yondjahi yandje! Otandi longitha Assur ongondhimbo yokudhenga mboka nda geela. 6 Otandi tumu Assur okudhenga oshigwana oshikeenakalunga, aantu mboka ya geyitha ndje. Otandi ya tumu, ya yuge, ya hakane yo ya lyatagule aantu ngaashi iiyagaya momapandaanda.

7 Ihe omupangeli gwaAssur ita dhiladhila ngaaka, kali shi elalakano lye. Elalakano lye olyo okuhanagula nokukomba po iigwana oyindji. 8 Oti itanga ta ti: “Oondjayi dhandje adhihe dhaakwiita odho aakwaniilwa. 9 Onda lala iilando Kalno naKarkemish, Hamat naArpad, Samaria naDamaskus. 10 Onda ganeke okwooko kwandje, ndi geele iilongo mbyoka hayi simaneke iimenka oyindji yi vule mbyoka yaJerusalem naSamaria. 11 Onda teya po Samaria niimenka yasho ayihe; osho te ningile wo Jerusalem niiyelekela mbyoka tayi simanekelwa mo.”

12 Ihe Omuwa ota ti: “Uuna te mana shoka tandi longo kondundu Sion nomuJerusalem, otandi ka geela omupangeli gwaAssur omolwomwiityo gwe nuutsa we auhe.”

13 Omupangeli gwaAssur oti inomo ta ti: “Ayihe mbika ongame nde yi longo. Ngame ondi na oonkondo nowino nonda kotoka. Onda dhimi po oongamba pokati kiigwana nonde ya yugu uuyamba mboka ya li ya pungula. Aantu onde ya lyatagula nda fa ontsezi. 14 Iigwana yomuuyuni oya ningi ya fa oshihandhila shokadhila, uuyamba wawo onde u gongele nuupu nda fa tandi gongele omayi. Kakwa li ewawa lya papamene ndje, li haluthe ndje, nenge okana ke ekamene ndje, ka kudhile ndje.”

15 Ihe Omuwa ota ti: “Ekuya otali inomo tuu kutya olyo enene li vule ngoka te li tetitha? Oshisaaha oshi na tuu esimano li vule lyaangoka ta saaha nasho? Oshiti ohashi longitha tuu ngoka e shi yedha, nenge ondhimbo ohayi dhungadhunga tuu omuntu?”

16 Omuwa Omunankondoawike ota tumu uuvu, a geele aakwiita yaAssur yo ondoka. Momalutu gawo otamu ka yaka omulilo gwa fa epeya. 17 Kalunga, uuyelele waIsrael, ota ka kala omulilo. Kalunga kaIsrael omuyapuki ota ka kala omalaka gomulilo. Mesiku limwe otaga fike po omano noondjoho muIsrael. 18 Omakuti ge ga thitakana nomapya go ondoka otaga hanagulwa po thiluthilu, ngaashi omuvu ta thipuka. 19 Momakuti ge otamu ka hupa omiti omishona, nokanona taka vulu oku dhi yalula.

Aashona taa ka galuka

20 Esiku otali ya, uuna Aaisraeli mboka ya hupu ko, itaa inekele we oshigwana shoka konyala she ya hanagula po. Otaa ka inekela shili Omuwa, Kalunga kaIsrael omuyapuki. 21 Aaisraeli aashona ayeke taa ka galukila kuKalunga kawo omunankondo. 22 Nando Aaisraeli oyendjiyendji ya fa ehekevi lyomooha dhefuta, aashona yowala taa ka galuka ko. Omuwa ota ka pangula Assur

24 Omuwa Omupangeliawike nOmunankondoawike ota lombwele aantu ye mboka ye li muSion ta ti: “Inamu tila Aayassur, nando taye mu hepeke, ngaashi Aayegipiti ya ningile. 25 Egeelo lyandje kune otali hulithwa po mbala notandi ke ya hanagula po. 26 Ongame, Omuwa Omunankondoawike, otandi ke ya nakula nongola yandje, ngaashi nda dhengele Aamidiana pemanya lyaOreb. Otandi geele Assur, ngaashi nda geelele Egipiti. 27 Uuna esiku ndyoka lya thiki, otandi mu mangulula mepangelo lyaAssur, nondjoko yawo itayi ka kala we komapepe geni.”

Aantu yomuRama otaa haluka, naantu yomoshilando shaSaul Gibea otaa kukuma taa yi ondapo. 30 Aagallim, kugeni onkugo! Ne Aalajesha, pulakeneni! Yamukuleni, ne Aayanatot! 31 Aamadmena nAagebimi otaa fadhuka po ya ka holame. 32 Esiku tuu ndyoka aatondi oye li moshilando Nob, naahwiyaka otaa ganeke oongonyo kondundu Sion muJerusalem.

33 Omuwa Omunankondoawike ote ke ya pompona ya fa iitayi tayi tetwa ko komuti. Ndhoka dhi ifala pombanda nomileeleka dhomudho otadhi komangelwa po notadhi lyatelwa pevi. 34 Omuwa ote ya komangele po ya fa omiti dhomokati komugulu tadhi komangelwa nekuya; nando nadhi kale omiwanawa ngaashi muLibanon, otadhi kewa po.

1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; 2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! 3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory? 4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

5 ¶ O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. 8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. 13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it , and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: 14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. 15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. 16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. 17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; 18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. 19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

20 ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. 21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. 22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. 23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

24 ¶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. 26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. 28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages: 29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled. 30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth. 31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee. 32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. 33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled. 34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
