1. Growth

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it…”

Similar to how babies rely on their mother’s milk to grow, you also require the nourishment of God’s Word to mature and flourish spiritually. As believers of God, your primary need is spiritual nourishment. Just like pure milk, God’s Word serves as your spiritual food that enables us to thrive.

By being nourished, you grow as the life of God increases within you. Jesus, as a man on earth, lived his life this way, serving as an excellent model for you to follow. Your hunger can only be satisfied when you live not only on physical food, but also on God’s Word. This is how you can find satisfaction and strength to continue living the Christian life.

2. Guidance

Isaiah 30:20 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Did you know that the Bible acts as a treasure trove of wisdom if you are seeking guidance in life. It’s a powerhouse of insights and knowledge that can help you navigate life’s twists and turns, make better choices, and grow towards spiritual and emotional maturity. The Bible also helps us to grow in resilience and in our actions.

3. To hear God’s voice

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Effective communication is important in any relationship, and God is the conductor of life’s symphony. The Bible acts as a portal for you to hear God’s voice with clarity and wisdom, leading to discernment and righteous actions that glorify Christ.

4. Because its eternal

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”

The promises in the Bible stay with you forever as you read the Bible each day. Unlike worldly things that eventually fade, the teachings rooted in Christ endure. By reading the Bible, you discover what is eternal and can apply these principles to your daily lives on earth so that you can live with an eternal perspective in the here and now.

5. It keeps you from sin

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Having a strong foundation in God’s Word is essential for living a Christian life, shaping you into the image of Christ, renewing your minds, and keeping you from sin. Reading, studying, and memorizing the Bible helps you gain an understanding of God, Jesus’ teachings, and how to live a faithful life and to stay on the right track.

The Lord Will Punish the Earth

1 The Lord is going to devastate the earth and leave it desolate. He will twist the earth's surface and scatter its people. 2 Everyone will meet the same fate—the priests and the people, slaves and masters, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, rich and poor. 3 The earth will lie shattered and ruined. The Lord has spoken and it will be done.

4 The earth dries up and withers; the whole world grows weak; both earth and sky decay. 5 The people have defiled the earth by breaking God's laws and by violating the covenant he made to last forever. 6 So God has pronounced a curse on the earth. Its people are paying for what they have done. Fewer and fewer remain alive. 7 The grapevines wither, and wine is becoming scarce. Everyone who was once happy is now sad, 8 and the joyful music of their harps and drums has ceased. 9 There is no more happy singing over wine; no one enjoys its taste any more. 10 In the city everything is in chaos, and people lock themselves in their houses for safety. 11 People shout in the streets because there is no more wine. Happiness is gone forever; it has been banished from the land. 12 The city is in ruins, and its gates have been broken down. 13 This is what will happen in every nation all over the world. It will be like the end of harvest, when the olives have been beaten off every tree and the last grapes picked from the vines.

14 Those who survive will sing for joy. Those in the West will tell how great the Lord is, 15 and those in the East will praise him. The people who live along the sea will praise the Lord, the God of Israel. 16 From the most distant parts of the world we will hear songs in praise of Israel, the righteous nation.

But there is no hope for me! I am wasting away! Traitors continue to betray, and their treachery grows worse and worse. 17 Listen to me, everyone! There are terrors, pits, and traps waiting for you. 18 Anyone who tries to escape from the terror will fall in a pit, and anyone who escapes from the pit will be caught in a trap. Torrents of rain will pour from the sky, and earth's foundations will shake. 19 The earth will crack and shatter and split open. 20 The earth itself will stagger like a drunk, sway like a hut in a storm. The world is weighed down by its sins; it will collapse and never rise again.

21 A time is coming when the Lord will punish the powers above and the rulers of the earth. 22 God will crowd kings together like prisoners in a pit. He will shut them in prison until the time of their punishment comes. 23 The moon will grow dark, and the sun will no longer shine, for the Lord Almighty will be king. He will rule in Jerusalem on Mount Zion, and the leaders of the people will see his glory.

7 Omaviinyu taa nyika oufiye, nomuviinyu owa fyoluteni, ovahafimwenyo aveshe ohava nyemata. 8 Ehafo longoma la dja po, neweelelo lovahafi ola mwena, nenyaku louxumbafeta ola xula po. 9 Ihava nu vali omaviinyu nokwiimba; oikunwa yeenghono otai ningi ilula momakanya ovanwi vayo. 10 Oshilando shihe na ovanhu, osha tewa po, nomaumbo aeshe okwa idilwa, ihamu iwa vali. 11 Momapandavanda omu na elilaano omolwomaviinyu, ehafo ola mwena noudano owa tembuka mo moshilongo. 12 Moshilando omwa kala ehanauno alike, noshivelo osha tetaulwa po. 13 Osheshi osho tashi ka kala ngaho kombada yedu nomoilongo aishe, ngaashi olumono tali kupulwa, nongaashi pokupupudulula omaviinyu, ngeenge a pwa okukola.

14 Venya ve li kwinya otava kuwilile nokuhafa pombada; ndele tava nyakukifwa pombada oshingepangelo shOmwene, lwokefuta: 15 Onghee hano, onye vokoushilo, fimanekeni Omwene nanye ovanailongo vokominghulo defuta, edina lOmwene Kalunga kaIsrael!

16 Okominghulo dedu otwa uda omaimbilo ehambelelo: “Oshitukulilwa shomuyuki oshiwa! Ndelenee ame ohandi ti: Ohandi pwinine, ohandi pwinine fiyo handi xulu po. Woo aame! Ovanyeki otava nyeka, ovatinhi otava tinhi nokutinhinina!” 17 Etilifo nelambo nomwiyo otau ku kwata; akutu oove onakukala kombada yedu! 18 Ndele ou ta faduka po onghuwo yoixuna, ota wile moshilambo, naau ta di mo moshilambo, ota yulwa komwiyo.
