1. Growth

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it…”

Similar to how babies rely on their mother’s milk to grow, you also require the nourishment of God’s Word to mature and flourish spiritually. As believers of God, your primary need is spiritual nourishment. Just like pure milk, God’s Word serves as your spiritual food that enables us to thrive.

By being nourished, you grow as the life of God increases within you. Jesus, as a man on earth, lived his life this way, serving as an excellent model for you to follow. Your hunger can only be satisfied when you live not only on physical food, but also on God’s Word. This is how you can find satisfaction and strength to continue living the Christian life.

2. Guidance

Isaiah 30:20 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Did you know that the Bible acts as a treasure trove of wisdom if you are seeking guidance in life. It’s a powerhouse of insights and knowledge that can help you navigate life’s twists and turns, make better choices, and grow towards spiritual and emotional maturity. The Bible also helps us to grow in resilience and in our actions.

3. To hear God’s voice

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Effective communication is important in any relationship, and God is the conductor of life’s symphony. The Bible acts as a portal for you to hear God’s voice with clarity and wisdom, leading to discernment and righteous actions that glorify Christ.

4. Because its eternal

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”

The promises in the Bible stay with you forever as you read the Bible each day. Unlike worldly things that eventually fade, the teachings rooted in Christ endure. By reading the Bible, you discover what is eternal and can apply these principles to your daily lives on earth so that you can live with an eternal perspective in the here and now.

5. It keeps you from sin

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Having a strong foundation in God’s Word is essential for living a Christian life, shaping you into the image of Christ, renewing your minds, and keeping you from sin. Reading, studying, and memorizing the Bible helps you gain an understanding of God, Jesus’ teachings, and how to live a faithful life and to stay on the right track.

1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. 2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. 7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. 8 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. 9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. 10 The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. 11 There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. 12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

13 ¶ When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. 14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea. 15 Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

16 ¶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. 17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. 18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. 19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

1 Tara, Muhona ma nyono ehi, nu me ri esa onguza. Eye ma tungunyuna orupare rwehi na piza ovature varo. 2 Auhe ma hakaene notjiwonga tjingetjo, okutja omupristeri notjiwaṋa, omukarere nomuhona, omurande nomurandise, omuyazeme nomuyazemise, omutumbe nomusyona. 3 Ehi mari sewa tjo nari pundwa. Muhona wa hungire, nu mape tjitwa nao.

4 Ehi mari kaha nari kukuta; ouye auhe mau ngundipara; ehi nevaverwa aviyevari mavi heuka. 5 Ovandu va yamburura ehi mokukatuka omatwako nomazikamisiro wa Ndjambi; nowo va teya omerikutiropamwe eye nga zikamisa kutja ye karerere nga aruhe. 6 Ndjambi opa sengira ehi. Ovature varo mave vererwa imbi mbi va tjita; nowo opu mave zu okusesetwa i omuriro, nu mape hupu tjiva uriri. 7 Omivite mavi kukuta, nomavinu maye hepa. Ngamwa auhe ngwa ri nondjoroka, nambano u nondjenda, 8 nombosiro yenyando yoviharpe noyozonḓukwa zawo ya yanda. 9 Kape tji nokuimbura kwenyando pomavinu; kape tji na ngu ma yorokere omutjato wawo rukwao. 10 Motjihuro oviṋa avihe vya tombakana, novandu ve ripatera mozondjuwo zawo kutja ave ha munu ovipo. 11 Momivanda mu nondjuriro tjinga ape hi nomavinu. Ondjoroka ya handa nga aruhe; oyo ya yandisiwa kombanda yehi. 12 Otjihuro tja rire otjitambatundu, nomivero vyatjo vya teyewa. 13 Imbi ombi mavi tjitwa momuhoko auhe mouye auhe. Mape sana tjimuna ondjandero yomakondero, ozoṋinga tji za nikorwa komiti, nomandjembere omasenina tji ya nikorwa komivite.

14 Imba mba sewa po mave imbura nenyando. Imba vokongurova mave serekarere ounene wa Muhona, 15 nu imba vokomuhuka mave mu tanga. Ovandu mba tura momakoverwa, mave tanga Muhona, Ndjambi wa Israel. 16 Komauye wokokure tjinene matu zuu ko omaimburiro ngu maye pose nai: “Hiveye ingwi Omusemba!”

Nungwari ami me tja: “Kaku nomaundjiro ku ami. Ami mba manuka. Ovanazohukutu zawo maze ririre ko ozombi.” 17 Purateneye, eṋe vature vehi! Pe nondirisiro novitoto nozombate mbi mavi mu undju. 18 Auhe ngu ma kondjo okuhena kondirisiro ma wire motjitoto, nu auhe ngu ma kondjo okupita motjitoto ma kamburwa i ombate. Omipupo vyombura mavi roko okuza mevaverwa, nomazikameno wehi maye nyinganyinga. 19 Ehi mari pamburuka, ari tauka nari pamuka. 20 Ehi orini mari teratera tjimuna omundu ngwa purukisiwa i omavinu, nu mari kurakura tjimuna ondanda motjivepo. Ouye wa haverwa i omutwaro womauvi wawo ouini; owo mau u, nu kamaau sekama rukwao.

21 Eyuva mari ya Muhona mu ma vere ovimbumba vyeyuru novanane wokombanda yehi. 22 Ndjambi ma wongere ozombara pamwe tjimuna ovapandekwa morutjiva. Eye me ze patere motjovakamburwa nga oruveze rwomberero yazo tji rwa yenene. 23 Omueze mau zorere, neyuva kari tji nokuyera, Muhona Omunamasaaehe, tjinga ama rire ombara. Eye ma honapara mOjerusalem kondundu Sion, novanane votjiwaṋa mave munu ounene we.
